1. WhatsApp Forward Leads to Lynching in Madhya Pradesh

Driven to frenzy by a WhatsApp rumour about child lifters, a mob in Morwa region of Singrauli district, Madhya Pradesh lynched a young woman late Saturday night. Police have foiled four such lynchings over the past month in Singrauli and Balaghat districts by a being step ahead of social media rumour regarding organ mafia and child lifters.

The woman, believed to be about 25 years old, is yet to be is yet to be identified, Singrauli SP Riyaz told TOI. Her body was found near a nursery of the forest department close to Bhos village in Morwa region, about 40 km from the district HQ and close to the UP border.

2. Bank Executive Found Dead in Dwarka

A 43-year-old senior manager with a bank was found lying in a pool of blood inside his Dwarka flat on Saturday night. The police are treating the death as mysterious but have not registered a murder case yet.

DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said the victim has indentified as Abhishek Chandolia. A preliminary probe has found that Chandolia was alone in his flat at the time of the incident as wife Nidhi Chandolia and their 13-year-old child were away.

3. Insurance Agent’s Murder in Delhi, One RPF Constable Arrested

A 28-year-old insurance agent was killed, allegedly by two policemen posted with the Railway Protection Force (PRF) and Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police, in north Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla. DCP (north) Nupur Prasad said the dead was identified as Prem Kumar. His family registered a missing person complaint on 20 July.

“We arrested Constable Ajay Kumar (35), posted with the RPF. A search is on for Constable Sarvesh, who is posted with Bannadevi police station in Aligarh,” Prasad said.

4. Five Held After Clash Erupts in Topsia, Kolkata

Kolkata police on Sunday arrested five people after a clash erupted in Topsia area. The incident took place on Saturday at 8 pm at Selim math in Topsia. According to police sources, there was an altercation between two groups led by Haider Khan and Sk Akil over an old rivalry.

“They assaulted each other with lathis and choppers. Both Haider Khan and Sk Akil sustained injures,” said an official.

5. Woman Molested in Camp Area of Pune, FIR Registered

An unidentified person allegedly followed and molested a 38-year-old woman employed with a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firm in Pune Camp area on Saturday. As per the information given by Bundgarden police station, the incident took place around 2:45 am on Saturday on the road connecting Council Hall square to Blue Nile restaurant. The woman, a resident of Pune Camp, has filed an FIR.

A police officer said, “The complainant, who had finished her work shift at 2 am, was on her way home on her bike. In Camp area, she realised that she was being followed. When she reached near Council Hall square, the suspect tried to stop her. He then molested her and tried to pull her jacket. He then took a U-turn from the next square and fled.”

6. Woman Kidnaps 8-Year-Old Boy Due to a Failed Affair

An eight-year-old boy was kidnapped by a woman at Haatpipliya town in Dewas district, more than 150 kilometres south west of Bhopal on Friday after the boy’s uncle allegedly rejected the woman’s advances, said police.

The boy’s uncle happens to be a police personnel in Chhattisgarh posted at Sukma at present.

Fortunately, the principal of the school where the boy studies got a whiff of the kidnapping and informed the boy’s parents, who chased the woman and rescued the boy. The woman and another person have been arrested by Dewas police.

7. Retired Serviceman Shoots Wife at Residence

An ex-serviceman allegedly shot his wife at their residence in village Jassian of Ludhiana Sunday. Police said that the accused is suffering from a kidney ailment and remained depressed due to health issues.

On Sunday, his wife was working in the kitchen when he shot her with his double-barrel rifle. Two bullets were pumped into her back. She died on the spot. The deceased was identified as Kuldeep Kaur (55), who was married to Darshan Lal (58), an ex-serviceman from the Army. Police arrested the accused and said that he is not answering any questions during interrogation.

8. Two Men Killed in Separate Accidents

Two men were killed in two separate accidents on Sunday. While one accident occurred at the Airport light point towards Hallomajra, the other happened at the light point of Sector 46/47/48/49.

In the first accident, an unknown motorcyclist was killed and the pillion rider seriously injured when their two-wheeler rammed into a moving PCR vehicle of Chandigarh Police on Dakshin Marg on Sunday night.

Both the victims were rushed to PGI where one of them was declared dead on arrival. The deceased was identified as Rakesh Kumar of Hallomajra, the injured was identified as Kapil Kumar of Hallomajra.

9. Man Arrested for Robberies and Snatching in South Delhi

A 19-year-old man, who was allegedly involved in several cases of snatching and robbery in south Delhi, has been arrested, police said on Sunday. The police recovered 21 mobile phones, one country made pistol with a bullet, and a stolen motorcycle from the accused, Fazal Ali.

DCP (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said eight snatching and robbery cases, five of which were reported this year, were solved with the arrest of Ali, a resident of west Delhi’s Khyala village. Ali used it to threaten victims with the firearm, said the DCP.
