1. Schoolgirls In Bihar Object To Lewd Comments, Thrashed

More than two-dozen students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika School were beaten up by a group of villagers after they resisted boys passing lewd comments on them in Supaul district of Bihar.

The students were admitted to Triveniganj Referral Hospital.

Taking note of the incident, Supaul district magistrate Baidyanath Yadav has ordered an inquiry into the incident. “An FIR should be lodged against people who attacked these girls. The accused would be identified with the help of CCTV footage and action would be taken as per law,” the Supaul DM said.

A student informed the police that some boys passed lewd comments on them. They informed the warden and teachers who chided them. Eventually, the boys fled the spot and claimed that they were beaten up by schoolgirls.

2. Woman Fatally Stabs Aunt 14 Times In Head

A 39-year-old unemployed woman from Thane has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her 75-year-old aunt to death at the latter’s Kolbad home on 6 October. The police said the accused, Swapna Kulkarni, was living with her aunt since the past few years.

A police officer said that Swapna had a tiff with her aunt for not preparing breakfast. Soon, a heated argument ensued.

“In a fit of rage, Swapna picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed her aunt 14 times in the head,” said the officer. Neighbours alerted the police who found the body and arrested Swapna. A case has been registered at Rabodi police station under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Swapna is in judicial custody.

The police will probe if there was any other motive for the murder.

3. Five-Year-Old Boy Murdered, Body Dumped Outside Home In A Gunny Bag

The body of a five-year-old boy was found dumped in a gunny bag outside his home in Ludhiana on Sunday, 7 October. Police is suspecting it to be a kidnapping case due to some personal rivalry with the deceased’s family.

The deceased was identified as Ansh Kanojia. His father, a labourer living in Amarjit colony on Jagirpur road of Ludhiana, told the police that Ansh was playing outside the home on 6 October but he went missing around noon.

They filed a missing report at Tibba police station.

The Mohammad Jameel, SHO Tibba police station, said that it is very unlikely that the child was kidnapped for money as the family is very poor. It seems to be a case of personal rivalry or revenge, he added.

4. One Arrested For Killing Man Over Pet Dog

Two days after a 40-year-old man was stabbed to death while his brother was injured after their vehicle hit a pet dog in Dwarka’s Uttam Nagar, police have arrested one of the accused, Karan Arora, adding that three other accused are still on the run.

On the night of 5 October, Vijender Rana died and his brother Rajesh was injured after they were attacked allegedly by four men – Ankit, his brother Paras, his tenant Dev Chopra and neighbour Karan with a knife outside their home in Uttam Nagar, Delhi.

Police said the attackers were enraged after their dog was hit by a van being driven by the deceased. A fight ensued, following which one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the brothers. The dog, police said, is alive.

5. To ‘Impress’ Relatives At Family Wedding, Woman Robs Car

To impress her relatives in Delhi, a woman from Dehradun allegedly robbed a car with the help of a male associate from southeast Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar, the police said. The duo has been arrested.

Deputy commissioner of police (west), Monika Bhardwaj said on 4 October, the complainant, Subham Sharma, a taxi driver from Dehradun, reported that two women and a man hired his cab to travel from Dehradun to Palam in Delhi and back.

“He said that on 3 October, the trio robbed him of his car at gunpoint near the Moolchand flyover. After we received inputs that two people who were allegedly involved in this car jacking will come near Keshopur Mandi, we intercepted the accused, who were travelling on a motorcycle. They were identified as Varma and Sapna,” the DCP said.

The vehicle was traced with the help of a GPS device installed in it, the police said.

6. Man Shot Dead, Wife Injured In Delhi

A 36-year-old man and his wife were shot at in Bawana Saturday night, The incident left the man dead while the woman survived with critical injuries. Police suspect the possibility of enmity behind the attack. No arrests were made till late Sunday, 7 October, the police said.

According to the police, as told by witnesses, around 8.40pm an unidentified man approached Amit Singh, a resident of Pana Mauja in Bawana, while he was working at his roadside chicken shop.

They said locals told them that the man took out a pistol and shot Singh. His wife, Jyoti, who was also present at the shop, was also shot at when she tried to intervene.

“While Singh was pronounced dead, his wife, who sustained a bullet injury in her lower right abdomen, is recuperating at the Saroj Hospital near Madhuban Chowk. She is out of danger,” said an officer not authorised to speak to the media.

7. UP Woman Raped By Three Men

A 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped by three men in Budhana town in this district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday, 7 October.

The incident took place Saturday when the woman, who was waiting for a bus to return to her village, was given a lift by the three accused, who took her to a forest area and raped her, Station House Office (SHO), Budhana, Jai Bhagwan said.

On the basis of a complaint from the woman, a case was registered against the three accused who were absconding, he said, adding that the victim was sent for a medical examination.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim, she had come to Budhana from her village, Phugana, and was given a lift by the three men on their motorcycle on her way back.

After forcibly taking her to the forest area, the three men took turns to rape her and threatened her with dire consequences if she narrated her ordeal to anyone, she stated in the complaint.

8. Navy Man Booked For Rape

Based on a complaint filed by a woman who alleged that she was raped by man who had promised her marriage and a job in the Indian Navy, police have booked a person, who they said is serving in the Navy.

The accused had allegedly threatened the woman and said he would post her photos on social media. An FIR has been registered by the woman, who is in her 20s.

According to the complaint, the woman met the accused in 2015. The accused allegedly hid the fact that he already married. Sub-Inspector Ketaki Chavan of Bundgarden police station said that the accused in the case made false promises of marriage and a job in the Navy to the complainant. As per our primary information, he works with the Navy and is currently out on a ship.

The arrest is yet to be made.

9. Gangsters Gun Down Two Cops In Rajasthan

An inspector and a constable were allegedly shot dead by “gangsters” in an SUV who opened fire on a police team chasing them in a private vehicle at Beswa village under Fatehpur police station in Sikar district, an official said on Sunday, 7 October.

A massive manhunt was launched to catch the killers following which one of the suspects was detained and being interrogated, Inspector General of Police V K Singh told PTI.

The incident occurred on the night of 6 October when Fatehpur police station SHO Mukesh Kanungo and Constable Ram Prakash, acting on a tip off, set up barricades near Beswa village to apprehend ‘gangster’ Ajay Chaudhary and his aides, said V K Singh.

In the firing, Kanungo was hit in the neck and the constable on the chest, said the official, adding both succumbed to the injuries before they could be rushed to a hospital.
