Family members of an 18-year-old Dalit woman who was allegedly gangraped by five men in front of her husband in Rajasthan’s Alwar district have accused the police of not taking appropriate action on the pretext of ‘increased workload’ during election time.
The accused also uploaded a video of the crime on social media, with the family alleging that if the police had taken timely action, the accused could have been arrested earlier and prevented the video from being circulated.

A four-year-girl kidnapped from a slum in Indore was Monday evening found dead in a well, an official said. The girl was kidnapped on Sunday night from a slum cluster here when her parents were asleep, he said. “She was raped and killed and her body disposed of in a deep well here. We believe it was done by someone known to the family. The slum cluster has 36 homes and we are questioning people from the locality,” Senior Superintendent of Police RV Mishra said.

The Thane crime branch has claimed to have solved a murder case within 10 hours after an unidentified body was recovered from Hiranandani Estate, a plush locality in the area.
Police have identified the victim as Govind Banarasi, a construction worker from Waghbill area, and arrested his friend Raju Chavhan for the murder on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, the mutilated body was recovered by Kasarwadavli police on Monday night inside the residential estate.

Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested four persons in connection with an Ayushman Bharat recruitment scam case from Gurugram.
The arrests were made after the National Health Agency (NHA), the implementing agency for the central government health insurance scheme, filed a complaint alleging some people were promising jobs under the scheme.

Body of a semi-naked woman who was allegedly raped and murdered was recovered from a forest in Shahdol district, situated some 400 km east of Bhopal, police said.
Shahdol SP Kumar Saurabh said the body of the woman, who appeared to be in her early twenties was found with her throat slit with a sharp object in the forest area on Monday.

A 19-year-old youth from Indapur, who has sustained 55 per cent burn injuries, has accused the family members of a girl he was in a relationship of trying to kill him by setting him on fire. The youth, Kismat Shabbir Shaikh, is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Solapur.
The incident reportedly took place on 3 May, on the day the girl married someone else. Police are yet to make arrests on the basis of an FIR filed by the youth.

A 32-year-old woman was found dead in a trunk inside her house in north Delhi’s Roop Nagar on Tuesday, said police. They added that the main suspect in the murder, the woman’s husband, was missing.
Police identified the woman as Nirmala and her husband as 35-year-old Santosh Kumar, a labourer, and they lived at Ghanta Ghar.
According to the police, they received a call around 4 pm from a man who said that the woman, who was his tenant, had been found dead.

A 25-year-old man was Tuesday shot dead allegedly by some motorcycle-borne assailants in Rohini's Aman Vihar area, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Kuldeep, they said.
The incident took place at around 7:30 pm when five men riding two motorcycles opened fire at Kuldeep and fled from the spot, a senior police officer said.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead, he said. Kuldeep sustained a gun shot injury to his chest, he added.

A Special Cell team had a narrow escape when a 32-year-old man, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh for his arrest, opened fire at them. The bullets ended up hitting their bulletproof jackets.
Police said the accused, Paramjeet Dalal, is wanted in 10 criminal cases registered in Delhi and Gurgaon. He is the prime accused in two murder cases and specialises in extortion rackets, added police.
In 2016, he and his associates allegedly kidnapped a property dealer and demanded Rs 25 lakh for his release. He has been on the run ever since, police said, adding that they were on his trail for two months.
