A special screening of the biopic 'PM Narendra Modi' was held on Tuesday, 21 May, at PVR Acropolis here with Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in attendance.
The film, which did the rounds of the courts and poll authorities for a release date, was postponed earlier by the Election Commission in view of the Lok Sabha polls.
The Omung Kumar-directed film, in which actor Vivek Oberoi is playing the eponymous role, is now scheduled for a 24 May release.
Speaking at the screening, Oberoi exuded confidence that Modi and the NDA would win a second term and asked people to see his film to "celebrate" the poll victory.
"I am fortunate to land the role. Our friendship started from Gujarat...People said you are making him (Modi) a hero, I said he is already a hero," Oberoi told reporters.

In a major operation, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), on Tuesday intercepted a Pakistani fishing vessel off the Jakhau coast in Gujarat allegedly carrying 200 kilogrammes of heroin.
Coast Guard officials said the consignment was likely to be received by an Indian vessel. They said that they are interrogating the six crew members apprehended from the boat — Al-Medina — and were trying to get more details.
The agency had received intelligence inputs about the shipment on Sunday. On Monday, they received information from the Directorate of Revenue of Intelligence about a possible hand-off of narcotics on the Gujarat coast following which, the ICG diverted their ship Arinjay which was on patrol along with two interceptor boats C-437 and C-408 from Jakhau and Okha,said ICG officials familiar with developments.

With a pass percentage of 66.97 percent against 67.50 percent recorded in 2018, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) results were declared Tuesday recorded a decline of 0.53per cent.
A total of 8,22,823 students took the exams at as many as 925 centres and sub-centres in Gujarat. Out of whom 5,51,023 are eligible for the pass certificate.
Interestingly, both the centres with the highest as well as the lowest pass percentage are from Gir Somnath district. Supasi with 95.56 per cent and Tad with 17.63 per cent were on the top and bottom among all districts, respectively.
While Surat maintained its place among districts with the highest of 79.63 per cent and Chhota Udepur replaced Dahod with the lowest pass percentage of 46.38 per cent.

A case of theft was lodged with with Karanj police station on Monday after 64 brand new water taps were stolen from bathrooms and coolers of the City Session court. Cops have arrested a 52-year-old alcoholic for the crimes.
The accused has been identified as Manu Dantani (52), a resident of Chandrabhaga chal located in Ranip area. Dantani is unemployed and an alcoholic.
According to the police, a complaint was lodged by Yasvardan Mehta (48), a resident of Shastrinagar and employee with the Session court. He stated in his complaint that after the inauguration the City Session court in Karanj area, all the bathrooms and coolers of the court building were installed with new water taps.

The race to grab the prestigious posts of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has begun as the dates for filing of nomination is drawing closer. The front runners for the post of Senior Vice President include current VP Hemant Shah, Meghmani Organics Ltd MD Natwarlal Patel (popularly known as Natubhai Patel) and former VP Jayendra Tanna.
Election schedule for 33 seats of GCCI has been announced. Voting will take for 32 posts, while the current senior vice president Durgesh Buch will automatically become president for the next year.
Hemant Shah, vice president of GCCI said that he is in the race for the post of senior vice president. "I will file my nominations," said Shah. He said that as of now he has not decided whether he will form a panel for other posts or not.
