Just days after the deadly Maoist attack in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, that claimed the lives of 25 CRPF jawans, the Sukma Police, on 28 April, released a set of posters offering cash rewards for anyone who helps nab various Naxalites — dead or alive.

Ramanna, who is a member of the Central Committee of Maoists, carries a bounty of Rs 40 lakh on his head, while awards for others range between Rs 3 lakh, Rs 5 lakh, Rs 8 lakh and Rs 10 lakh.

The posters also state that the name and address of the informant will be kept confidential. The 24 April attack on CRPF personnel in Sukma was the deadliest Maoist attack in seven years. The assault has prompted the paramilitary to change its tack as regards anti-Maoist offensives in the South Bastar region.
