'Chalo Kumbh Chale' is the “the mantra for peace” for thousands of visitors who are gathering in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj for the Kumbh Mela, one of the largest congregations in the world.

The fair officially begins on Tuesday, 15 January, on the occasion of ‘Makar Sankranti’, one of the sacred bathing days of the 50-day Kumbh.

Due to the huge number of people expected to take part in the mela, the administration has restricted the entry of all types of vehicles – other than those required for essential services – in the vicinity of Kumbh Nagari, the sprawling 32,000 hectare township that has come up on the banks of the river.

As tens of thousands get set to make their way to the Sangam – the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the Saraswati – for a ritual dip in the waters, here is the list of all the important helpline numbers:

  • Kumbh Helpline Number- 1920
  • Women and Child helpline- 1091
  • Ambulance- 108
  • Police- 100
  • Fire- 101

Visitors can also get in touch with officials from Triveni Bhawan, Veni Bandh Daraganj, Prayagraj. They can reach out to them on +91 532 2500775 / +91 532 2504011, or write to: web.kumbh-up@gov.in

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the Kumbh Mela 2019. To closely monitor the crowd and events, 40 watch towers have also been installed in the vicinity.
