Konkan Railway has introduced some friendly steps for the physically handicapped. The ‘Sarathi Seva’ service was launched on January 1 and will comprise a wheelchair along with an assistant, free of cost, which will help take them from the coach till the exit and vice-versa.

However, this service is only available at five stations – Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Karmali, Madgaon and Udupi.

According to a press release issued by the railways, till now 175 passengers have taken this service. Text your requirements to 9664044456 and the rest will be taken care of by the Konkan railway.

There are already some facilities available for physically-handicapped passengers in the railways, like quota and relaxation of ticket fares. They are also provided with wheelchair assistance and battery-operated cars, these are provided only at some major stations.
