Kerala to Launch India’s First Gender Equality Convergence Center

Kerala Govt is all set to launch India’s first gender equality park which will also include a gender institute

The Government of Kerala has announced the launch of India’s first Gender Equality convergence center, “The Gender Park”. The park will be inaugurated on 27 February in Kozhikode, Kerala.

The center is touted to be the country’s first large-scale initiative in creating an environment to share global knowledge and experiences in reducing gender inequalities.

A gender institute will be a central component of the gender park. It will aim at a creating a unified platform for engaging with various genders.

The institute in The Gender Park will cover issues pertaining to all three genders. The objective of the institute is to link knowledge creation to policy making through a multidisciplinary research and learning process, eventually expected to transition into the first gender university in India.

The park will be inaugurated by the Honourable President, Mr Pranab Mukherjee in the presence of Governor of Kerala, Justice P Sathasivam and Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Oommen Chandy. Dr Rebecca Reichmann Tavares, Representative, UN Women for India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, will also attend the event.
