An ambulance driver was arrested on Tuesday, 27 March for allegedly leaving an elderly road-accident patient in an upside down position outside the Medical College Hospital in Thrissur, because he had urinated and defecated in the vehicle.
The severely injured man died on Saturday, 24 March, within hours of being left thus, reported The News Minute.
The ambulance driver has been identified and charged with "endangering a life with criminal negligence," reported NDTV.
The man had met with an accident in Palakkad on 20 March. He had suffered head injuries and was taken to a district hospital. On 23 March, he was being shifted to the Thrissur hospital, and that is when the incident took place.
The driver of the ambulance was annoyed because the man had urinated and defecated inside the ambulance and therefore, left the man in an upside-down position outside the hospital.
According to the the police, the patient passed away at 2:33 am on Saturday. He had no family or attenders with him, reported The News Minute.
The patient’s body will be brought to Palakkad after completing all procedures.
