Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has been released from RK Puram Police station, after being detained over the suicide of ex-serviceman Ram Singh Grewal. Kejriwal was detained after he expressed his desire to meet Grewal’s family. Grewal had allegedly committed suicide over the One Rank One Pension (OROP) issue.
Upon his release he said that he will continue to protest until OROP is implemented. Earlier, it was reported that despite being released by the police, he had refused to leave the police station. However, Kejriwal said that he had been asked to stay back.
According to police sources, Kejriwal was detained around 7.45 in the evening and was released an hour later.
However, sources close to the Chief Minister said that the police initially allowed him to leave but detained him again.
Kejriwal had also tweeted from the police station stating that deputy CM Manish Sisodia had come to meet him. Sisodia was also detained at Parliament Street police station for close to ten hours and later released.
