It took five long years for the verdict on the Amboli double murder case to put the guilty behind bars. The families of Keenan Santos and Reuben Fernandez, who lost their lives while protecting their female friends from a group of molesters, finally witnessed the guilty being sentenced to life imprisonment. In a live chat with The Quint, Keenan’s father Valerian Santos talks about his son’s victory. Today, he celebrates justice and his son by finally breaking the oath he had taken five years ago, that he will only cry when Keenan’s killers are punished.

Mumbai’s Session Court ruled in favour of the victims’ families as it convicted the four accused in the matter. Mr Santos expressed his joy and thanked god for serving justice. He also hoped that no other parent should ever have to go through the pain of losing a child. But as a father, he’s proud that his son had the courage to stand up for the honour of another human being, even if it meant losing his life.
