In the latest medical bulletin, Chennai’s Kauvery Hospital announced that DMK President Karunanidhi’s medical condition has declined.
The hospital said “maintaining his vital organ functions continues to remain a challenge considering his age related ailments.”

A bulletin issued by Kauvery Hospital executive director Dr Aravindan Selvaraj on Thursday said, "There has been a slight decline in the health of M Karunanidhi due to age-related ailments. He is being monitored and treated round the clock by a team of medical and nursing professionals, who are providing hospital-level care at his (Gopalapuram) home."

After visiting Karunanidhi's residence to enquire about his health, AIADMK leader Panneerselvam said he was "doing well."

DMK president M Karunanidhi was taken to Chennai's Kauvery Hospital in the wee hours of Saturday, 28 July. His supporters had gathered in large numbers outside his residence in Gopalapuram, when he was being shifted.
According to news channels, Karunanidhi has been admitted in the ICU, with a team of 20 doctors treating him.

Speaking after Karunanidhi was admitted to the hospital in the wee hours of Saturday, DMK leader A Raja said:
Minutes after Karunanidhi was rushed to the Kauvery Hospital as his condition deteriorated, a bulletin released by the executive director of the hospital said the DMK chief’s “blood pressure has been stabilised” and “he continues to be monitored and treated by the panel of expert doctors”.
The bulletin said Karunanidhi was admitted in the ICU at 1:30 am on Saturday, after his blood pressure dropped.

The second bulletin released by Kauvery Hospital said Karunanidhi’s health condition continues to be stable while he is currently being monitored by a panel of experts in the ICU.

Kauvery Hospital in its latest medical bulletin stated that Karunanidhi will be hospitalised for an extended period due to age related overall decline in health, altered liver function and hematological parameters.
The bulletin further added that he continues to maintain vital signs with active medical support.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav took to Twitter on Tuesday, praying for the healthy recovery of the DMK president.
