The Madras High Court allowed the burial of DMK chief M Karunanidhi on the Marina Beach.
A division bench of the court comprising Acting Chief Justice H G Ramesh and SS Sundar passed the order on a petition filed by the DMK at a special hearing.
DMK had moved the court last night after the AIADMK government rejected its request for allowing the burial of Karunanidhi on the famed Marina sands alongside his mentor and former chief minister CN Annadurai.

In a letter addressed to MK Stalin, Congress’ Sonia Gandhi expressed grief over the death of M Karunanidhi.
“For me, Kalaignar’s loss is very personal. He always showed me great kindness and consideration, which I can never forget. He was like a father figure to me,” Gandhi wrote.
Karunanidhi’s mortal remains will be taken from Rajaji Hall through Sivananda road, Thanthai Periyar road and then finally be taken to Anna Memorial. The procession will begin at 4 pm, according to DMK.
Police resorted to lathicharge to control the crowd at Karunanidhi’s wake.
Speaking to the media, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “Yesterday, I had gone to their residence to pay tributes to Karunanidhi ji. He was the senior most leader & politician, legendary figure. So, it is a great loss.”
Madras High Court said “mortal remains of Karunanidhi shall be buried in consonance with rough sketch provided by DMK’s RS Bharathi.”
MK Stalin appealed to the party cadre to remain calm. Addressing the people he said, “Those who are in power are trying to create chaos, but you have all shown the strength of the cadres. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace.”
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav have arrived at Rajaji Hall in Chennai.
Speaking to The Quint, a teary eyed DMK supporter said, “You will always live in our hearts.”

According to media reports, two people died and 30 other suffered injuries at Chennai’s Rajaji Hall. However, no official has been able to confirm the numbers.
