Director General of Police (DGP) (Prisons), Karnataka, HN Sathyanarayana Rao on Wednesday filed a Rs 50 crore defamation lawsuit against his subordinate Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), D Roopa Moudgil.
The defamation notice comes days after Roopa alleged that Rao had taken a bribe of Rs 2 crore to provide special treatment to AIADMK leader VK Sasikala at Bengaluru’s central prison.
The notice, which had over three pages on the achievement of the DGP, further alleges that Roopa made the accusation to gain cheap publicity. It also questioned Roopa on why she had taken no photographs of the special treatment provided to Sasikala, while the officer had documented most other parts of the prison.
While the notice demands an apology from the subordinates, it clarifies that they would continue with the legal action even if she does apologise.
