SUV Carrying Ex-CM Yedyurappa’s Son Runs Over Pedestrian

The pedestrian died after being run over. The incident took place near Davangere in Karnataka.

In a case of rash driving, the SUV in which former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa’s son was travelling in rammed into a pedestrian, killing him on the spot near Davangere, Karnataka.

The incident occurred at 8:35 pm on Thursday night at Nyamathi near Davangere when the victim Suresh was getting off from an auto-rickshaw.

On Thursday night, Shikaripura MLA BY Raghavendra – who is BJP state president BS Yedyurappa’s son – was travelling from Davangere to Shivamogga in his SUV when his driver allegedly knocked down the 24-year-old man, who died instantly.

Suresh is a resident of Madapura village in Honnali taluk. According to an eyewitness, Raghavendra’s driver, Ravindra, was speeding and rammed into Suresh, who was crossing the road after getting off an auto rickshaw, a police officer told The News Minute.

As soon as news spread that Yeddyurappa’s son was in the car, hundreds of people gathered near the accident spot. Blood was coming out of the man’s head and his legs were damaged badly. He was already dead by the time I arrived.

Honnali Police Inspector JR Ramesh received a call around 8:40 pm regarding the accident and the death of the man.

Inspector Ramesh and former minister Renukacharya visited the spot and took stock of the situation.

The Nyamathi police arrested the driver on Thursday night.

A case has been filed under IPC Section 337 (rash and negligent driving) against the driver at the Nyamathi police station.

The police are in the process of obtaining statements of the eyewitnesses and that of Raghavendra.

Suresh's body has been sent for an autopsy and the police is awaiting the report.
