The cyber police arrested a man on Monday for allegedly hacking into Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Income Tax account in September 2016.
The accused has been identified as a 26-year-old Central Armed Police Force personnel who hails from North India. The accused confessed that he had hacked into Kareena’s account because he was a fan and was hoping to get her phone number and talk to her.
A team, led by assistant police inspector S Gaund, revealed that the accused had used a mobile phone to hack into the actor’s account. “A mobile phone too has several IP addresses assigned to it. We had to figure out which phone had been allotted the IP address when the fraud took place,” an officer told The Indian Express.
Police officials said that the man confessed to having hacked the actor’s I-T account by getting access to her PAN number, which he found online.
The man has been taken into custody and has been booked under the charges of impersonation and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. However, all the sections are bailable.
A complaint in the matter was filed by Kareena Kapoor’s Chartered Accountant on 1 October at the BKC Cyber police station, where an FIR was registered.
