The 29-year-old youth, Artisan Farooq Ahmad Dar, who stirred a storm in the media, after an Army major tied him to his jeep as a ‘human shield’ has allegedly refused an offer by popular reality show Bigg Boss aired on the Colours’ TV Channel worth Rs 50 lakh, as reported in The Hindu.
Farooq, who hails from Budgam, has been in the news ever since a picture of him tied to the front of an Army jeep and paraded went viral on social media and was decried by human rights activists across the country.
Representatives of Colours TV channel have claimed it is “speculation”, however, they have neither denied nor confirmed Farooq’s claims.
The SHRC recommendation of Rs 10 lakh as a compensation to Farooq for the physical and mental was rejected by the Jammu and Kashmir state government last year in November.
Ever since April last year, Dar, who is a shawl weaver, continues his fight for compensation with the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) in Kashmir.
