The official website of Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, was hacked for the second time in 24 hours. The first time, it read “Happy Birthday Pooja.” It was restored by 8 am on the same morning, but was subsequently re-hacked to read: “Sorry, I Have a Boyfriend. ~ Pooja”
The website was first hacked during the wee hours of Tuesday, 22 May. The second instance occurred on the evening of 22 May.
No group or person has claimed responsibility for either of the hacks.
"It's quite shocking that something like this should have been done. The moment we got to know, the university administration was alerted and we responded. We were able to restore the website within a few hours, much before the university opened in the morning,” said Dr Saima Saeed, professor at Jamia.
The website is now up and running, but Twitter definitely had a field day with people guessing who ‘Pooja’ was to wondering if she would be impressed with the hack.
