After playing hardball for days, JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy has finally admitted that his party will support the Congress in Bengaluru Bruhat Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) mayor and deputy mayor elections, but he has put forth one condition.
Kumaraswamy told reporters that his party will extend support to the Congress only if Congress State President Parameshwar or Chief Minister Siddaramaiah holds discussions with them.
A total of 255 votes will be cast for electing BBMP Mayor and Deputy Mayor. This includes 198 corporators, MLAs and MPs from Bengaluru and other ex-officio members.
The JD(S)- Congress combine along with the support of independents has around 131 votes, tad bit more than the BJP.
Some independent corporators who had been shifted to a resort in Kerala by the Congress have maintained that the arrogance displayed by some BJP leaders made them go with the Congress, though they were BJP rebels and ready to go back to the party.
