The Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC) has approved the Delhi government’s skywalk and foot-over bridge (FOB) project at ITO in Delhi. The skywalk and foot over bridge will connect Sikandra Road, Mathura Road, Tilak Marg and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. According to the Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satyendar Jain, this would be the first skywalk project on such a scale undertaken by the PWD, as reported by the Indian Express.
“The project work will start in about three to four months after the structural drawings and revised estimates are drawn up. It should take about a year to be completed. We expect it to be ready by December 2017,” says Satyender Jain, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister

Constructed at the crossing on the Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, the skywalk will give exclusive connectivity to Pragati Maidan Metro station. The project is a part of the Delhi government’s plan to redesign its roads, which will make pedestrians a priority. The project also has a space in front of the Supreme Court, where pedestrians can spend time and grab a bite at shops selling food and beverages.
