The Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM), brainchild of Arindam Chaudhari, is all set to shut down.
The institute, founded and run by the Indian economist, has decided to not admit students in this academic year and shut down most of its branches.
Only its Delhi branch will be functional after the students from other branches pass out.
IIPM is very much there, but considering the tough market situations, took a conscious decision to exit some courses and centres and focusing on new courses and newer markets.
— Amit Saxena, Consulting Advisor, IIPM
Saxena also said some of the courses will be outsourced to colleges with permit. The institute has been forwarding text messages to its affiliates with regard to the change.
And just to further clarify IIPM will now basically work through knowledge partnerships as IIPM 2.0 as announced in our ad on May 11th. The aim is to give our real edge in economics, entrepreneurship, leadership and strategy to lacs instead of thousands through knowledge partnerships with dozens of institutions .. and let the regulation papers be taught by the institutes we tie up with. Regards
The institute, which has been in news in the past for alleged fake degrees, had claimed to be better than any management institute in the country. At one point, the institute promised 100 per cent placements, thanks to its self-acclaimed training excellence.
Chaudhuri has often made it to news for making ridiculous statements. For example, in this 4-year-old video Chaudhuri can be heard saying that US President Barack Obama is of no use to India.
What happens to the IIPM Think Tank, headed by Chaudhuri, will be answered in time.
