The Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead five intruders along the India-Pakistan international border in Punjab on Saturday, 21 August, reported PTI quoting BSF officials.
BSF, in a statement, said, “Alert troops of 103 battalion of BSF noticed suspicious movement of intruders violating International Border along with Tarn Taran, Punjab. Upon being challenged to stop, intruders fired upon BSF troops who retaliated in self-defence. Resultantly, 5 intruders were shot. Search operations are on.”
In a report, The Indian Express quoting a BSF official stated, “this is the highest number of intruders killed in a single incident along the over 3,300 km-long border with Pakistan in more than a decade.”
Punjab shares a 553 km long international border with Pakistan.
