Indian Woman, 7-Year-Old Son, Stabbed to Death in New Jersey Home

An Indian woman and her seven-year-old son were found murdered at their home in New Jersey on 23 March.

The deceased have been identified as 40-year-old N Sasikala, an engineer, and her son Anish Sai, their family in Prakasam district said on Friday. Sasikala’s husband N Hanumantha Rao reportedly discovered their bodies lying in a “pool of blood,” with “their throats slit,” NDTV reported.

The couple had been living in the US for a decade. Sasikala’s parents, S Venkateswara and Krishnakumari, who live in Vijayawada, have alleged foul play. They told ANI that Sasikala had complained about being ill-treated by her husband who reportedly was involved in a illicit affair.

Hanumantha Rao and Sasikala, both software professionals, had been living in the US for close to a decade now. In a statement, accessed by PTI, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said: “The preliminary probe revealed the victims were stabbed multiple times”. The police have ruled out hate crime as a motive.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his condolences towards the family members.

Y Sambasiva Rao, a member of Andhra Pradesh state legislative assembly from Prakasam district, spoke to representatives of Telugu Association of North America (TANA) over phone about the incident.

This is the latest in a series of crimes involving Indian techies in the US. Srinivas Kuchibhotla, 32, an aeronautical engineer from Telangana, was killed when Adam W Purinton, who earlier served in the US Navy, shot him in Olathe, Kansas, on 23 February.

Vamshi Reddy Mamidala, also from Telangana, was shot dead in Milpitas, California, on 10 February in a garage in his apartment building.
