WiFi, Vending Machines: Tejas Express Promises Amazing Features

Indian Railways is looking for an image makeover, and the recently announced Tejas Express is going to be the poster child of this makeover revolution.

As announced in the 2016-17 budget by the Railways Minister, Tejas along with other new entrants like Humsafar, Deen Dayalu Express, and Uday will look to bring world class facilities at an affordable price to the passengers of the world’s largest railway network.

These new trains will be complemented by revamped railway stations, designed to keep up with the new modern aesthetic.

Here’s what the the Indian Railways plans to bring to us in the near future.

Design Scheme to Reflect Premium Quality

Tejas, meaning brilliance, will be draped in golden vinyl sheets and will convey through its rich color scheme the idea of luxury and premium service.

Another train that is slated to start service this year is Humsafar Express. The particular train will come with vinyl sheets painted in the colours of earth and sky to convey the message of being the common man’s carrier.

World Class Travel

Tejas will come equipped with 22 new features upon its launch, the most interesting of which will be high-tech entertainment units, wi-fi facility, and integrated braille displays.

It will also attempt to provide state-of-the-art facilities including tea and coffee vending machines, magazines, and snack tables.

The coaches of the premier Tejas express are being readied in a way to give its passengers a premium travel experience usually associated with European rail travels.

Revamped Coaches

Tejas will have Executive Class and Chair Cars, while the Humsafar will be a train which will only have 3-AC coaches populating it.

Besides the improved aesthetics, Tejas coaches will come with entertainment screens for each passenger, along with hand phone socket and LED boards for communicating safety instructions, digital destination boards, and electronic passenger reservation chart.

It will also bring with it water level indicators in bio-vacuum toilets, touch-sensitive taps, and hand driers. Both Tejas and Humsafar will also be equipped with CCTVs and fire and smoke detection and suppression systems to ensure passenger safety.
