The Indian Navy foiled an attack on cargo ship MV Jag Amar by pirates in the Gulf of Aden on Friday, October 6, the navy spokesperson said.

INS Trishul came to the rescue of the Indian flag-bearing vessel at around 12.30 pm. All 26 crew on board the ship are safe.

Captain DK Sharma, spokesperson for the navy, stated that the navy’s commandos are currently on board the MV Jag Amar.

An AK-47 and another magazine with 27 rounds were recovered. Twelve suspected pirates on board a skiff with a small anchor, ropes, fuel drums, and ladders are said to be responsible for the attack.

The cargo ship was en route Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
