On 25 September it was reported by Rising Kashmir that the Indian Army was involved in the killing of 13 horses, a claim that the army has refuted.
The army reportedly injured three other horses as their vehicle rammed into the livestock of nomads from Frisal village in Kulgam.
The nomads called Bakerwals were also thrashed by the army men according to their allegations, as they were on their way to Pahalgam in Chenab valley.
Wahid claimed that they were allowed to go after being questioned but only till Damidola crossing in Frisal, where the army men rammed their vehicle into their horses, which were walking on both sides of the road.
He also claimed that the army rammed into the horses thrice, after which the men were beaten up.
A case was registered against an “unidentified” army vehicle as investigations are underway.
However, the army spokesperson from Srinagar has denied this incident’s occurrence.
