In yet another instance of racism against African nationals in India, a group of Nigerians in Greater Noida were attacked after being accused of killing an Indian teen in their neighbourhood.
After 19-year-old Manish Khari died on Saturday under mysterious circumstances, his Nigerian neighbours from the NSG Black Cat Enclave in Greater Noida were accused of peddling drugs and causing his death.
On Monday, a group of African students held protests against the incident. According to reports, two Nigerian nationals were attacked on 27 March. A day later, a group of Nigerian nationals were attacked at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida. The Association of African Students in India alleged that the same day, an African man was beaten up by a mob in Noida's Ansal Plaza.
The Greater Noida case is not the first instance of racism towards African nationals in India. Why does this keep happening? Why are we quick to point fingers without any proof whatsoever?
