Investigators probing the death of a Gujarat businessman, his wife and teenage daughter on Wednesday have found a second suicide note in the house. This one, the police said, was by the wife who blamed what she called “the evil spirit” of his husband’s former girlfriend..
Kunal Trivedi, 45, was found hanging in a bedroom of his flat, while his wife Kavita (45) and daughter Shreen (16) were found lying on the floor.
Trivedi’s mother Jayshreeben, 75, was also found unconscious when police broke open the door of their Avni Sky apartment on Wednesday morning after being alerted by the family’s relatives, who grew concerned at their repeated calls to the Trivedis going unanswered.

The three-member committee appointed by the Bombay High Court to enquire into the fire at Kamala Mills in December 2017, has held the owner of the mill and two restaurant proprietors responsible for the incident.
The committee concluded that the “immediate and probable cause” of the fire on 29 December 2017 was burning charcoal from a hookah and that fire safety violations were committed by the owner of Kamala Mills, Ramesh Gowani, and the owners of two rooftop restaurants.
Headed by former chief justice of Kerala High Court Arvind V Sawant, the committee submitted its 200-paged report to the HC, which heard the report in court on Tuesday, 11 September.

A man was nabbed by local people when he allegedly tried to abduct a six-year-old girl in Palghar district of Maharashtra, police said.
Alim Kashim Shah, the accused, was arrested under IPC Section 363 (kidnapping), said Palghar rural police's PRO Hemant Kumar Katkar Thursday.
The alleged incident took place at Manor village Wednesday, 12 September, he said.
Shah allegedly took the girl away when she was playing in the courtyard of her house with her younger brother.

DMK suspended S Selvakumar, a former Perambalur district functionary for physically assaulting a woman in May. The suspension was announced through a press release on Thursday, 13 September, which said, “The party suspends him from basic membership and all party posts due to actions that go beyond the code of conduct of the party and for defaming the party.”
The order of suspension signed by the DMK General Secretary, K Anbazhagan, came after CCTV footage of the assault went viral on WhatsApp and other social media.
The video shows S Selvakumar speaking to a woman near the billing counter inside a parlour, while three other women watch over.

The Ghaziabad Police on Wednesday, 13 September, lodged an FIR against a gynaecologist and the attending team of Matrika Hospital in Indirapuram, following a complaint by a 30-year-old patient who alleged that she sustained severe burns to her chest and breasts during her delivery at the hospital.
Apoorva Nawaz, a resident of Noida Extension, was admitted to the hospital on 14 August with labour pains. After undergoing a caesarean operation, she delivered her baby the same night. Nawaz was discharged on 17 August. However, during her stay in the hospital, she claims that she received burn injuries to the chest and breasts.
After recovering partially post delivery, she approached the police on 29 August and submitted a complaint on 30 August.

In an alleged honour killing case in 2015, where a 21-year-old man was hacked to death with an axe allegedly by the relatives of the woman he was in a relationship with, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report stated that the blood found on the weapon of offence could “not generate a DNA profile”.
As per the report, blood was “detected” on Exhibit 12 (axe) during analysis. But following DNA examination, “no DNA profile was generated from the exhibit,” said the report. This means that there is no evidence of the deceased’s blood on the weapon of offence.
This report was part of the submission in the High Court, which was hearing the bail application of one of the accused.

A 26-year-old man, Kuldeep, alias Luv Kush, was stabbed to death and his friend Vijay got injured near his home at EWS Colony in Dhanas following a brawl with three men on Thursday night. Kuldeep was stabbed more than three times. His friend, Vijay, whose condition is said to be critical, has been admitted to PGI. Two of the assailants were identified as Gulshan and Rahul.
Police said Kuldeep along with friends – Vijay and Vijay Kumar (namesake) – was having ice cream near EWS Colony when three men came on a motorcycle and started relieving in the open. Sources said when Kuldeep and his friends objected, the bike-borne trio left.

A 20-year-old student killed herself in Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district on Tuesday after allegedly being harassed by her stalker. The girl has been identified as Joneboyina Jhansi, hailing from Konijerla village in Gampalagudem. She is the daughter of a farmer. Jhansi was an undergraduate pursuing her final year at a private college at Gampalagudem mandal headquarters according to police sources.
Twenty-five-year-old Namburi Gopi, the alleged stalker, hails from the same village. He is a graduate and having to failed to find employment, took up farming. A case under IPC Section 306 (abetment of suicide) was registered based on a complaint of the victim’s father Joneboyina Srinivasa Rao. Gopi, however, is yet to be arrested.

A 19-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped and raped by four to five people at Kanina in Haryana's Mahendergarh district, police said on Thursday, 13 September.
She was allegedly kidnapped on Wednesday by the accused who arrived in a car and taken to a secluded place where she was gangraped after being offered a drink laced with sedatives, they said.
The accused later left her near a bus stop in Kanina.
According to an official of Women Police station, Rewari, a 'zero FIR' was lodged on the complaint of the woman, and the probe was being conducted by the Mahendergarh Police as the incident occurred in the area under their jurisdiction.
