Angry guardians on Friday protested at a school in Kolkata after parents of a four-year-old girl student and her doctors said she was sexually assaulted by a teacher and possibly more men.
The girl, studying at the high-profile GD Birla Centre For Education in south Kolkata's Ranikuthi area, was bleeding profusely when she returned from school on Thursday, 30 November, the girl's father said. She was rushed to a hospital.
Police have arrested two accused physical education teachers named Abhishek Ray and Mohammad Mofizuddin.

Three people were arrested on Friday by the Property Cell of Mumbai Crime Branch for taking money from aspiring cricketers and making false promises of getting them selected to the IPL, East Africa Premier League, and Ranji trophy teams, police said.
The arrests were made on the basis of a complaint filed by a 35 year old cricket coach who approached Chembur police yesterday stating that he and his players were cheated by the accused between August 2013 to December 2014.
Police said that the accused collected Rs 68.07 lakhs from the players and the coach to facilitate their selection. The players realised they had been cheated when they got no intimation of any selection from the league.

A final-year law student was arrested on Thursday for allegedly “masterminding” a ₹1-crore heist in which employees of a security firm escaped with money from a cash van from the basement Ambience Mall in Gurgaon on Friday, 25 November.
The suspect had planned the heist along with two employees attached to a cash van contracted to refill ATMs. The accused, identified as Shekhar (24), was arrested from Rohtak late on Thursday by a crime branch team, officials said.
The other two accused have been identified as Hemant and Rahul, who were employed by private security firm SIS Security to refill cash in ATMs, a police official said. Hemant and Rahul are still absconding, police said.

A 16-year-old patient was allegedly assaulted by two male nurses working at the Shiva Hospital, Gurugram while she was in the ICU.
Geeta (name changed), who was admitted to the ICU of Shiva hospital on 16 November, had called for help when one of the accused took advantage of her situation and assaulted her.
Geeta was admitted into the ICU after she mistakenly drank pesticide thinking it was soda.
When she called for assistance in the night, the two male nurses, responded and instead of helping her, assaulted her in her weakened state.

In a tragic incident, a 25-year-old woman, who was the victim of an acid attack in Telangana's Warangal district, succumbed to her injuries on Thursday as she was undergoing treatment.
The police have taken three persons into custody in connection with the incident.
On Wednesday, the woman was found with acid burn injuries on her face and other parts of her body, in a field in Garimillapaly village.
Quoting an investigating official, PTI reported that the woman, who was a divorcee, had been staying with a man who prima facie hurled the acid after she deserted him recently.

A 24-year-old automobile mechanic was killed and two others injured in a suspected celebratory firing in north-east Delhi’s Welcome on Thursday evening.
AK Singla, DCP (north-east), said the shots were fired from inside a car that was part of a wedding procession. “One man was killed as the pellets from the bullets pierced his face. The other two are out of danger,” said the DCP.
“We have identified the car from which the accused fired the shots. Though he has been identified, he is on the run,” Singla added. Police sources said the suspect is a serviceman.

A 65-year-old principal of a private school in Jharkhand’s Koderma district was arrested on Friday for allegedly performing oral sex with a seven-year-old kindergarten girl student on several occasions.
“Tilaiya Public School principal S Xavier alias Francis Xavier, a resident of Jheel Garden, Kolkata, confessed to the crime, admitting that he had been sexually abusing the girl on several occasions,” said DSP Anil Shankar.
The girl's parents complained that the principal, who also teaches English, took their daughter to the school’s washroom when no one was there on Thursday. He undressed himself and forcibly pulled out the girl’s cloths. When she cried, he threatened her and made her obey him.
He then forced her to perform oral sex, the parents said, adding that he had done the same previously also.

Childline India Foundation (CIF) officials in Andhra Pradesh rescued two minors on Wednesday from the house of a 38-year-old pastor after he allegedly assaulted them.
The incident took place at pastor Wilson’s house at YSR Colony, Jakkampudi in Vijayawada. The children rescued are aged four and six.
CIF is a well-recognised NGO working for the protection of child rights by running a toll-free helpline for street children in distress since 1996.
According to Childline officials, the children said that they were thrashed after they failed to follow his instructions.

Karnataka Police said on Friday that they are probing a complaint that an Assistant Commissioner of Police and three constables allegedly stole Rs 3 crore from the strong room of the central crime branch.
"We are investigating the complaint that Rs 3 crore was missing from the strong room. There is a huge stash of demonetised currency notes lying there. We are counting all of them," said Satish Kumar, Joint Police Commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru central division, Dr Chandragupta, said they were looking for the ACP.
"He is not traceable at this moment," he said.
