1. One Army Major Martyred, Another Among 3 Injured in Kashmir Encounter

An Army Major died while another officer of the same rank and two soldiers were injured in a gunfight at Bidoora village, in Achabal area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Monday, a defence spokesman said. A Pakistani terrorist was killed in the same encounter.

Major Ketan Sharma of 19 Rashtirya Rifles who died in the Achabal encounter, belonged to Meerut.

2. Rape Victim Hangs Self Over ‘Police Inaction’

Accusing the local police of inaction, a 28-year-old gang-rape victim allegedly committed suicide at her house in Dataganj area of Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, an official said.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ashok Kumar Tripathi said the woman was found hanging inside her house in Dataganj and her body had been sent for post-mortem examination.

3. Rs 100-Cr Property Case: Court Grants Bail to Monty Chadha

A Delhi court Monday granted bail to late liquor baron Ponty Chadha’s son Manpreet Singh Chadha, better known as Monty Chadha, who was arrested last week in a case involving alleged failure to hand over a Rs 100-crore township in Ghaziabad to home buyers.

Additional Sessions Judge Gulshan Kumar, however, imposed restriction on movement of the accused and said that he should not leave the country without the court’s permission.

4. Protesters Demand Sacking Of Delhi Cops Who Allegedly Attacked Driver

A large number of people, particularly from the Sikh community, gathered outside the Mukherjee Nagar police station on Monday night, demanding sacking of all policemen who thrashed a tempo driver, police said.

On Sunday evening, a brawl between Sarabjeet Singh, the tempo driver, and policemen at northwest Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar went viral on social media.

5. Indian Family of 4 Found Shot Dead in US

Mystery shrouds the death of four members of a Telegu family who were shot and killed at their home in West Des Moines city, Iowa, in the US, on Saturday.

Sunkara Chandrasekhar (44), his wife Lavanya (41), and their two sons, aged 15 and 10, were shot and killed, a police statement said.

6. SPO Shoots Wife Dead, Commits Suicide in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda District

A special police officer (SPO) allegedly killed his wife before committing suicide with his service rifle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district Monday, officials said.

Village Defence Committee SPO Dheeraj Raj (45) killed his wife, Urmila Devi(42) with his service rifle and then trained the gun at himself, they said.

7. Elderly Couple Tied up at Home, Robbed in Vikaspuri

Around 8.30 am Saturday, Ashok Tekchandani (83) went out of his bedroom to have morning tea, usually served by the domestic help. Minutes later, the retired Income Tax department official and his wife Meena (75) were allegedly tied up with a plastic rope, wrapped in a bedsheet, and their mouths were stuffed with cloth, as the domestic help, Keshav, and his accomplice, allegedly robbed the house. Ashok was also punched in the left eye.

The incident took place at West Delhi’s upscale Shankar Garden in Vikaspuri, with the FIR stating that the two accused took off with Rs 65,000 and gold and diamond jewellery.

8. Nigerian Man Arrested For Trying to Use Cloned Debit Card In Delhi

A Nigerian national was arrested from Greater Noida for using a cloned debit card for purchasing 450 kilogram of ghee, police said Monday.

The accused has been identified as 45-year-old Shoxy Aby, they said.

9. 29-Year-Old Woman Alleges Man Flashed Her Inside Metro Station

A 29-year-old Delhi-based woman, an interior designer, alleged that a man masturbated on her when she was climbing down an escalator at the Huda City Centre Metro Station complex on June 14.

The woman said that later that night, she had approached the Gurugram police through Facebook Messenger, mentioning the incident, but did not receive any response. She then reached out to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials, who called her to look at the CCTV to identify the culprit on Sunday.
