1. Noida Boy Murders 3-Year-Old After Failing to Rape Her

UP Police on Friday, 8 June, apprehended a 13-year-old boy for allegedly abducting and killing a three-year-old whose body was found dumped in Bisrakh area of Greater Noida two days ago.

Police claimed that the boy killed the minor after he reportedly failed to rape her. He then dumped the body near a temple in Bisrakh area of Greater Noida. The minor boy is the victim’s neighbour.

“We received a crucial lead from a closed circuit television footage which showed the boy luring the victim to a secluded spot outside the village. We apprehended the boy on Friday morningm 8 June, and interrogated him after which he confessed to the crime,” said Akhilesh Tripathi, station house officer, Bisrakh police station.

2. Same Gun Used to Kill Gauri Lankesh and MM Kalburgi: Forensic Report

The same gun was used to kill journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh and rationalist MM Kalburgi in Karnataka, the state forensic science laboratory has confirmed in a report, sources in the SIT said.

The forensic report submitted to the Special Investigation Team probing the killing of Lankesh is part of the first chargesheet filed recently by the SIT naming KT Naveen Kumar as an accused.

This is the first official confirmation of the link between the two killings which happened after a gap of two years of each other.

3. Bhima Koregaon Row: Police Release Photos of Four Murder Suspects

The Pune Police on Friday, 8 June, released video grabs of four suspects who allegedly assaulted a youth during the Bhima Koregaon violence that occurred on 1 January, 2018.

The youth, Rahul Phatangade, was attacked and killed by a mob, armed with stones and sticks, near Sanaswadi during the violence.

Pune's superintendent of police (SP), Akkanouru Prasad told ANI, "We released pictures of the suspects who were involved in attacking the youth with stones and sticks. Also, a video clip was found and based on that, we arrested three people from Ahmednagar district."

4. Nine Members of Family Rescued From Ashram After Four-Month Captivity

Nine members of a family, including two minors, were rescued by police from an ashram run by a sadhvi called Shalini Shukla in Kanpur’s Kesri after a girl escaped from captivity and informed villagers about their ordeal, police said on Friday, 8 June.

“The family, comprising an elderly couple, their two sons, two daughters, a daughter-in-law and two minor grand children, were illegally confined in the ashram in Navada area since 8 February against their wishes,” Shivli station house officer Mahendra Pratap Singh said.

He said a raid was conducted in the ashram on the basis of information provided by one of the family members who escaped from the ashram. The girl met some villagers and told them about her family’s plight, the SHO said.

5. Debt-Ridden Delhi Businessman Planned Attack on Self to Implicate People He Owed Money

A businessman allegedly planned an attack on himself in order to implicate those he owed money to, following which he was arrested along with three others who were involved in the plan in southwest Delhi’s Sagarpur, the police said on Thursday, 7 June.

On 2 June, Kamal Kishore Jain told the police that when he was sitting in his office, two men came on a scooter and opened fire at him.

He expressed suspicion about the involvement of Ravi Jindal whom he owed some money to.

Police interrogated Jain’s servant Rahul who stated that Jain had a lot of debt. He had borrowed a lot of money from the people of his locality. He had not even given Rahul’s salary from last two months.

6. Mumbai Teen Shot by Friend in Drunken Feud, Body Found in Fridge

A 17-year-old youth was shot dead by one of his friends in a drunken brawl in Nalla Sopara, early on Friday, 8 June. To hide the murder, his friends hid the body in a fridge.

Waliv police have arrested one of the friends while two are absconding.

Bhumak, a resident of Thane, lived with his mother Kavita. He had gone to his friend’s, Deepak Malik, house on Thursday, 7 June, to celebrate the latter’s birthday at Vanotipada in Nalla Sopara. Bhumak had informed his mother of the celebration. His other friends, Kailas Wagh and Anil Singh had also gathered at Malik’s house for the celebration.

7. School Building Collapse Kills Teenage Migrant Worker in TN

A worker aged 18 years died and 14 others suffered injuries when an under construction private school building collapsed near Pollachi in Tamil Nadu on Friday, 8 June.

The deceased has been identified as R Kannan, 18, a native of Orissa. The under construction building collapsed around 2:00pm, and more than 15 workers were trapped under the debris.

On being alerted by the locals, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued 15 construction workers. Kannan died while being taken to hospital.

8. Rajasthan: Cop Abducted, Beaten Over Parking Dispute

Objection to stoping a city bus in front of a central bus stand annoyed a driver and a conductor on Thursday, 7 June, and they abducted the traffic police constable and took him five kilometres away at Kayar Vishramsthali, beating him badly and leaving him injured.

Two of the injured workers – Pinto (20) and Naren (20) -- were referred to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital as they sustained head injuries.

Nine workers were admitted to Pollachi Government Hospital while three others, who suffered minor injuries, were treated as outpatients.

9. 61-Year-Old Man Slits Wife’s Throat Over Domestic Quarrel in Gurugram

A 61-year-old man is alleged to have slit his wife’s throat with a sickle over a domestic quarrel in Gairatpur Bas village of Badshahpur in the wee hours of Thursday, 7 June. The deceased has been identified as Lal Kaur, 60.

According to the police, the incident took place around 3:30 am at the couple’s house. The accused has been identified as Ram Mehar.

The victim suffered a deep gash to the neck and was rushed to the Civil Hospital.

The investigating officer, ASI Charan Singh, said the doctors at the hospital declared her brought dead. “Prima facie, marital discord seems to be the reason for the crime. According to statements recorded, the couple used to have frequent altercations,” Singh said.
