A 41-year-old Japanese national was stabbed multiple times when he was headed towards a gurdwara in northwest Delhi’s Siraspur allegedly by a group of men who then decamped with his valuables, police said Sunday, 25 November. The victim has been identified as Tadayuki Kurihara, they added.
The incident took place on Friday at around 6:30 pm when the victim was walking alone towards a gurdwara in Siraspur to attend Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrations, a senior police officer said.
Police said the victim had been on a two-month solo trip and landed in India three days ago.

An autorickshaw driver was beaten to death allegedly by a mob that suspected him of being a thief in southwest Delhi's Uttam Nagar, police said Sunday, 25 November.
Two other men were also thrashed on the suspicion of being thieves, they added.
The two men had boarded the autorickshaw driven by victim Avinash Kumar Saturday, the police said. Subsequently, they asked Kumar to wait for them and got off while the autorickshaw driver went to urinate, they added.
When he came back, he saw a crowd thrashing the men, the police said. The duo told the mob that Kumar was their leader, following which the crowd attacked him, they added.

The police on Saturday said that the skeleton of a five-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and killed by serial killer Sunil Kumar on 23 September 2013, has been recovered in Gwalior near Akhileshwar temple.
After allegedly abducting the girl from a community lunch at the temple , he took her to an isolated place, raped her and subsequently killed her. The local police had registered a case on 23 October that year under sections 361 and 363 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Kampoo police station.
Kumar, 23, a daily wager, was arrested on 19 November from Jhansi for allegedly raping and murdering a three-year-old girl in Gurugram’s Sector 66.

A car, carrying liquor and people involved in the illegal trade of alcohol, crushed to death a home guard constable in dry Bihar’s Nawada district on Saturday, 24 November.
Police said the incident took place near a petrol pump on national highway (NH)-30, connecting Nawada with Koderma in Jharkhand when a police patrol team tried to stop the vehicle at around 4 am.
Superintendent of Police Sujit Kumar said the patrol team had put up a barricade at Sadhbhawna Chowk in Nawada town, 117 km south of state capital Patna, following inputs by excise department officials that three cars, moving at great speed, had jumped the Rajauli check post.

A 45-year-old man, who has multiple police complaints against him for harassing women, allegedly recorded a video of a woman, a national-level table tennis player, as she stepped out of her house in Sector 10, despite the woman and her neighbours asking him to stop, police said.
The 20-year-old woman told police that the accused used to show obscene gestures, pass comments on her and abuse her every day, said Yashwant Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Sector 10A police station.
The SHO said the victim is a college student and has won national-level medals for table tennis.

One person was killed when a car hit him at Pragati Maidan area on EM Bypass, Sunday 25 November. The deceased, identified as Hari Mohan Ram, was declared brought dead at Chittaranjan National Medical College and Hospital, police said.
The incident happened at around 3:30 pm when Aditi Agarwal (29), a fashion designer, allegedly drunk, broke a traffic signal and drove on to hit Ram, who was waiting for a bus to reach his workplace, a senior officer of Kolkata Police said. Police identified the woman after scanning the CCTV footage of the area. She was arrested from near a hotel in the area after a couple of hours, police said.

A candidate who lost the elections of Sarpanch in Doda district’s Jora panchayat on Saturday, 24 November, has been arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police on charges of murder of an ex-army captain.
Identifying the deceased as Mohammad Hafeez, police said that he had died in stone-pelting by supporters of the losing BJP candidate Rehmatullah Butt on victory procession of winner Kanchan Chandel of Congress. Five more people have been taken into custody, police said, adding that some more people were likely to be arrested as investigations in the matter are in progress.

An accused in the 2007 Ajmer dargah bomb blast, who had been on the run for 11 years, was arrested on Sunday, 25 November, by an anti-terrorism squad from Bharuch in Gujarat.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the case, had announced a reward of ₹2 lakh on the head of the accused, identified as Suresh Nair.
According to the agency, Nair had allegedly supplied a bomb to the perpetrators and was also present at the blast site, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) said in a statement.

26-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by three people at her home in the absence of her husband in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said Sunday, 25 November.
The accused had threatened the woman of dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to anyone, Station House Officer Bhagat Singh said.
On Saturday, 24 November, the three men entered the woman's home forcefully and raped her when her husband was not around, he said.
