At 4:30 am on Monday, a landslide hit the village of Laden in Budgam area of Kashmir Valley, resulting in the death of 16 people including a 28-day-old infant who was yet to be named. He was given his name, Mohammad Rajab, at his own funeral.

Lala Hajam and his family shifted to the house of his neighbour Ghulam Nabi Hajam thinking it would be safer than his own ‘kuchha’ house. But tragically it was this neighbour’s house that bore the brunt of the landslide.
