In News: Gas Leak in Ludhiana Kills Six, Over 100 Affected

Six people were killed and around 100 others were injured when an ammonia gas tanker leaked last night in Ludhiana district, Punjab, police said.

The tanker got stuck under a flyover on the Doraha Bypass Road along a canal, about 25 Km from Ludhiana.

As the people in vicinity inhaled the gas, six people died while 100 other people complained of breathing problems said Rajnish Kumar Sood, Doraha Police Station’s House Officer (SHO).

The affected people have been admitted to hospitals in Doraha, Khanna and Ludhiana.

After the incident, people were seen wearing masks around the area.

Senior civil and police officers have rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation as the identities of the deceased are not known yet.
