The Swedish furniture store IKEA in Hyderabad is once again mired in controversy, with another customer claiming to have found an insect in a piece of cake he ordered for his daughter on Thursday, 20 September, reported Hindustan Times.
According to NDTV, the customer, Kishore, tweeted on 12 September that he found an insect in his dessert. He posted a video of the cake on Twitter and tagged Hyderabad police and the municipal agency. When he didn't receive any reaction from the two, he tweeted another video claiming the municipal agency has not acted on his complaint.
On 2 September, a customer reported a caterpillar in the vegetable biryani served to him at IKEA. IKEA's response was to take its vegetable biryani and samosa off its menu, and apologise to the customer.
HT reported that, acting on Kishore’s latest tweet, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) fined IKEA India’s management Rs 5,000. For the last incident, GHMC had slapped a fine of Rs 11,500 on the firm and its Nagpur-based food supplier, Haldirams.
According to NDTV, IKEA management released a statement regretting the latest incident.
