Karnataka Assembly speaker KR Ramesh’s comment on Thursday, 21 March has raised eyebrows after he said that he “does not sleep with men,” reacting to Congress leader KH Muniyappa’s remarks over their relationship, reported ANI.

“I don't sleep with men. I have a legal wife. So, he (Muniyappa) may be interested, but I am not," Kumar said.

Muniyappa on 15 February, had denied a tussle with his colleague and said, “Ramesh Kumar and I are like husband and wife and we don’t have any issue.”

Muniyappa made the comment after Kumar expressed dissent over the former getting a Lok Sabha ticket.

Both the leaders, who are from Kolar, have been squabbling over who will contest from Kolar for long. Muniyappa, who is a seven-time Lok Sabha lawmaker, is likely to contest this time too. But Kumar and other legislators from Kolar are reportedly against it, reported NDTV.

Five Congress MLAs from Kolar are mounting pressure on the party’s top leadership to deny a ticket to Muniyappa, according to CNN-News18.

The Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka will be held in two phases on 18 April and 23 April, with 14 constituencies going into polls in each phase. Counting of votes will be on 23 May.
