Michael Ferreria, the Padma Bhushan awardee and former Billiards World Champion has been arrested along with three others by the Central Crime Station in relation to the multi-crore QNet scam on Monday.

Michael, Magaral, Balaji, Srinivas Vanka and Malcolm Desi were brought to Hyderabad by the police on a Prisoner Transit warrant from Mumbai on Tuesday, as reported by The Times of India.

Eight people had lodged complaints with the CCS in 2016 against the owners of Hong Kong based QNet multilevel marketing company for duping them of several lakhs through various fraudulent investment schemes and with the promise of providing jobs in e-commerce.

Cases against QNet have been registered at SR Nagar, Banjara Hills, Madhapur and other police stations. It’s suspected that the amount duped could go into crores of rupees.

In September, four local representatives of QNet were arrested by the CCS and by apprehending Michael, authorities are closer to nabbing the top representatives.

CCS DCP Avinash Mohanty confirmed the arrest of Michael Ferreira and three others.
