Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday, October 5, said he would investigate if there was a delay in Honeypreet Insan’s arrest.

The Haryana Police – who nabbed the Dera Sacha Sauda second-in-command on 3 October after she was on the run for almost 40 days – has been accused of allowing Honeypreet give her last television interview before she was taken into custody.

According to reports, Honeypreet was in the custody of the Punjab Police on 2 October and a senior police officer of the source had arranged for her interview to a television channel. She was then handed over to the Haryana Police, a claim that the Haryana Police has naturally denied.

“If the Punjab Police had information of her whereabouts before she was taken into custody by the Haryana Police, they should have informed them about it,” Khattar said.

Honeypreet’s interrogation would throw more light on whether there was any delay in her arrest, he added.

Honeypreet, the ‘adopted’ daughter of Dera Sacha Sauda chief and rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim, had been booked for sedition on the charges of inciting riots following Singh’s conviction by a Panchkula court.
