'He Brainwashed Her': Killed Wrestler Nisha Dahiya's Father on Accused Coach

Dahiya's mother has alleged that the coach, who has been accused of the murder, used to molest the wrestler.

A day after wrestler Nisha Dahiya and her brother were shot dead in Haryana's Sonepat on Wednesday, 10 November, the deceased's family has made some serious allegations against her coach, who had been accused of the murder.

After the deceased wrestler Nisha Dahiya's mother said that the accused coach Pawan had molested her daughter, her father, Dayanand Dahiya has alleged that he had also repeatedly harassed and brainwashed her.

"Nisha was going to Wrestling Academy for the last 3 years where coach Pawan had brainwashed her. The coach showed her dreams of winning medals in the Olympics. I tried to get Nisha admitted in some other academy many times, but she did not listen to me," he stated.

He added that he had warned Pawan over the matter several times, threatening to complain to the police.

On Wednesday, Nisha and her brother Suraj were shot dead by unknown assailants at Sunil Kumar Wrestling Academy in Sonepat's Halalpur, Haryana. Nisha's mother, who was also shot and gravely inured, was later admitted to PGI, Rohtak.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mayank Gupta had told The Print:

“The mother of the woman has alleged that the coach used to molest her (Nisha) on several occasions.

Coach Pawan's Wife, Brother-in-Law Arrested

A day after wrestler Nisha Dahiya and her brother were allegedly shot dead by her coach Pawan and his associates in Haryana's Sonepat, the police on Thursday, 12 November, arrested the coach's wife and brother-in-law in connection with the case.

Pawan's wife Sujata and her brother Amit were apprehended by the police from Rohtak. The two were allegedly present at the time of murder.

Both the accused will be produced before a court on Friday, where the police will seek their remand.

After the double murder, a panchayat was convened in the village on Thursday by the representatives of Dahiya khap and the villagers.

In view of the prevailing tension in the village, the police have tightened the security arrangements.

The bodies of the deceased were reportedly handed over to the family after the post-mortem on Thursday. Four bullets were recovered from Nisha's body, and three from her brother Suraj's body.
