A day after Haryanvi singer-dancer Sapna Choudhary denied reports of joining the Congress, photos of her with Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari – whom she reportedly met before making the vault-face – has surfaced.
In the photos, where Chaudhary is posing with Tiwari, she can be seen wearing the same pink kurti that she wore to the press conference on Sunday, 24 March, when she rubbished rumours of extending her support to the Congress party.
“I have not joined the Congress party. The photograph with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is old. I am not going to campaign for any political party,” Choudhary said on Sunday, refuting claims of her joining the Congress’ Uttar Pradesh fold.
The denial by Chaudhary was countered by the party’s member and leader Narendra Nath, who has produced her Congress membership form. The documents confirm Chaudhary’s entry into the Congress with a fee receipt of Rs 5 for joining the party as of 23 March.
Congress MP Raj Babbar was among the first to formally announce Chaudhary’s entry into the party. Babbar welcomed her into ‘Congress family’ with a tweet on Saturday evening.
According to media reports, Chaudhary was formally inducted into the party at Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar's residence, sources said.
It was also speculated that Chaudhary could be fielded by the Congress from Mathura to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party's Hema Malini.
Chaudhary later met Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress general secretary in charge of east Uttar Pradesh.
