Gujarat Violence: Army Called After 4 Killed, RAF Lands in Surat

NDTV  has reported that 4 people have been killed in relation to the Patel agitation in Gujarat. As IAF planes carrying paramilitary forces landed in Surat, the Army is getting ready to hold flag marches in Ahmedabad.

The Ahmedabad-Delhi Rajdhani and Ashram Express trains were cancelled following the attacks at Ghatlodia and Chandlodia in Ahmedabad, earlier in the day.

Army troops from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar have been called in to control violence in Gujarat, reports Economic Times’ Manu Pubby.

Hardik Patel, who is leading the Patel agitation, has asked the government to take action against the police for their crackdown on his supporters.

Five thousand paramilitary forces have been deployed in the state after Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel requested the Centre for additional troops.

NDTV reports that fresh clashes broke out on Wednesday morning in Ahmedabad. Violence erupted in Rajkot, Surat and Ahmedabad on Tuesday after Hardik Patel, who was leading the agitation, was briefly detained.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed for peace in Gujarat saying that  violence does not benefit anybody.
