Three people have died and ten are reported to be injured in a blast at Nirankari Bhawan in Amritsar’s Rajasansi village, according to the Inspector-General (IG) of Border, Surinder Pal Singh Parmar, reports ANI. However, in a conflicting report, OTI has said that the blast took place in Adhiwala village.
The incident reportedly occurred during a religious ceremony of the Nirankari sect on Sunday, 18 November. According to reports, two men on a motorcycle threw a grenade on the followers of the sect.
Sunil Jakhar, Punjab Congress chief expressed his condolences and said “It is an attempt to disturb peace in Punjab. I believe all the security agencies should stay alert and coordinate with each other to maintain peace.”
