No Proof of Rape In Preliminary Medical Report in Jewar, UP

Sexual assault has not been confirmed in the preliminary medical examination of the victims of the Jewar robbery and rape case, police and medical officials said on 26 May.

Medical examinations were conducted on the four gangrape victims as per guidelines. In the initial examination, no injury on the private parts of the women were found. And, the spermatozoa test was found negative.

A joint presser conference by District Magistrtae (DM) BN Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Love Kumar and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Anurag Bhargava, was held, where details of the rape case in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh were given.

“Spermatozoa can survive for 72 hours and can be detected in initial slide test. As the test was done after six hours of the incident, spermatozoa presence should be positive in case of sexual assault,” Bhargawa said.

NDTV reported that the clothes and tissue samples will be sent to forensic laboratory in Lucknow for further tests. The results of the tests are expected within 2-3 weeks.

"No proof of rape has yet been found in the medical reports of the Jewar gangrape victims. But we are investigating the matter and will soon catch the culprits," SSP Kumar said according to NDTV.

Earlier in the morning, one of the gangrape victims had alleged that her neighbour might be involved but she later retracted her statement and withdrew the complaint.

Armed robbers struck a group of eight people travelling to Bulandshahr in a vehicle on the Yamuna Expressway in the early hours on 25 May, shooting a man dead and looting cash and jewellery.

Four women, who were travelling in the car along with as many men, alleged that they were raped at gunpoint after they tried to resist robbery.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader, former minister Narendra Bhati condemned the robbery and ‘gangrape’ incident.

Bhati said the Yogi Adityanath government has failed to check the law and order situation in the state and demanded compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the rape victims.
