Seventy-year-old Sreeman Narayanan from Ernakulam district in Kerala is on a mission this summer to distribute 10,000 earthen pots for free to people who would provide water to birds.
“With summer worsening, most of the water sources of the birds have dried up. Not only humans, but animals too get affected due to the increase in temperature and suffer from dehydration. From this single mud pot, at least 100 birds can drink water,” The News Minute quoted Sreeman as saying.
Sreeman would be shelling out Rs 6 lakh for buying the 6,000 earthen pots.
A Gandhian by ideology and an award winning writer, Sreeman also distributed 50,000 saplings worth Rs 15 lakh, last year.
"I have completed my responsibilities as a father by taking care of my three children. And I do not want to keep savings for the future ignoring the present destruction of the earth," Sreeman, who runs a lottery business and a restaurant told The News Minute.
