The Finance Ministry on Thursday said the Reserve Bank of India was now focusing on printing Rs 500 notes to ease the liquidity situation over the next two to three weeks.
“The situation has considerably improved. The situation will ease out soon because of the focus on printing Rs 500 notes," Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das told reporters in New Delhi. He added that the initial focus was on supplying enough Rs 2,000 notes to replenish the demonetised notes as soon as possible.
