In an unfortunate incident, at least four persons were killed and eleven others injured on Friday, 5 October after a flex banner collapsed on a busy road close to Pune’s Shivaji Nagar railway station. Those injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital.

The Railways announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the people who died and Rs 1 lakh for those seriously injured and Rs 50,000 for those injured in the incident.

About seven to eight vehicles plying on the road were crushed under the banner. Work on cutting the flex banner was underway. However, the structure fell due to a lack of a proper support, according to ANI.

An enquiry has been ordered.
