Muslim clerics reportedly issued a fatwa against Rafia Naaz for teaching yoga in Ranchi, on 9 November.

Naaz had received a lot of threats from the members of her community to prevent her from teaching Yoga, reported ANI. Speaking to the media, Naaz thanked the State government for providing her security.

According to a Mirror Now report, Sanjay Kumar, Principal Secretary to State Chief Minister Raghubar Das, took notice of the matter and had asked the police to provide security to the girl.

My problem is with members of both communities. On one hand I am asked not to teach Yoga and on the other, I am asked to change my name so that people do not hesitate to learn Yoga from me.
Naaz told Mirror Now.

Rafia added that she would not be “scared or deterred” with these threats, and continue to do what she is doing.

The news channel reported that the girl was issued the fatwa after she was seen performing yoga on stage with Baba Ramdev in Ranchi recently.
