Enraged over the birth of a sixth girl child, a 36-year-old man stabbed his three-day-old daughter in Moti Masang Village of Dehgam district in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar, reported The Times of India.
The incident came to light after the baby’s mother, Vimla Rathod, filed a complaint against her husband Vishnu, with whom she has five daughters. Vishnu is a farm labourer.
The murder reportedly took place when Vishnu was alone with the baby. He was grabbed by Vimla and a few relatives while he tried to run out of the house after they found the baby in a pool of blood.
"We had placed her organs back inside her body and operated her. But she suffered three cardiac arrests during the surgery. After each cardiac arrest, she was revived but her life was ebbing away. She died despite being kept on ventilator," Dr Rakesh Joshi, the head of the paediatric department at Civil Hospital, told The Times of India.
