The Road and Transport Ministry from 15 December made Fastag applicable on all toll plazas across the country, which will make all tolls cashless. People cannot cross the toll plaza without having a Fastag attached to the car. If you have not yet purchased the Fastag, the central government has made it available for free till 15 December to promote it across the country through POS (Point of Sale)
The announcement of this notification has been announced by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. Gadkari earlier said that from 1 December, the facility of paying toll in cash at the toll plaza located on all the national highways across the country is being eliminated, therefore making it swift and easy to work. However, on 29 November the date was postponed to 15 December 2019.
People having their own vehicles can purchase Fastag from various authorised bodies like banks, online payment wallets etc. The State Bank of India is one of the sources where people can purchase Fastag from, check SBI Fastag Fee, Required KYC documents and more.
The users have to pay an amount of Rs 100 at the time of the issuance of tag. The other charges are different for different vehicles. Check below the various charges:

For limited KYC account holders and full KYC account holder the required documents are RC photocopy of the vehicle, ID and adress proof along with a passport size photo of the user.
