The family and lawyers of seven-year-old Pradyumn Thakur, a Ryan school student who was murdered last month, demanded that a Class XI boy apprehended in the case be tried as an adult and be given strict punishment.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, they also expressed suspicion about the involvement of school authorities in "destruction of evidence" and sought that the top management officials of the school be questioned by the CBI in the matter.

We demand strict punishment for the class XIth student. The (Juvenile Justice) Board also has the option of having him tried as an adult. The CBI has apprehended him based on evidence and we will assist the CBI and the court to ensure he is not allowed to go scot-free, is tried as an adult and hanged till death.

The family accused the local police of botching up the investigation and said the Central Bureau of Investigatioon meticulously collected circumstantial evidences and facts.

Since the beginning, we weren’t convinced of the Gurugram Police’s investigation. The CBI has arrested this boy based on some evidence. We trust CBI’s investigation.

Tekriwal also said:

CBI should also book those who were part of the larger conspiracy, including the juvenile. There’s a possibility that the school management was also part of this conspiracy.

The father of the deceased also expressed satisfaction with the CBI's progress in the case and demanded that all others involved in the conspiracy be brought to book. He added:

The motive given by the CBI could be the probable reason for committing this crime, as the child had been studying in the school for long and was aware of how it functions. We want the CBI to investigate the school management’s role.

A Class XI student who allegedly wanted to postpone a parent-teacher meeting and exams has been apprehended in connection with the killing of Pradyumn inside the Gurgaon school, the CBI said.
